One Step at a Time
I have a dear friend, Sherri Curley, of the Practical Sort who helps people clear their clutter. She’s a pro! And over the years has helped me manage my mess. Of course, I keep making more but that’s beside the point.
One day she was helping me purge paper from my endless piles when I finally heard her say what’s she’s been telling me all along … just do it one piece of paper at a time …. one pile at a time … one box at a time!
The same week ….
My Qi Gong instructor, Tamara Staudt, gave the example of a woman who practiced a common Qi Gong move, the Universe Stance, every single day. She couldn’t hold the position long at first, but eventually did it without effort. Not only did she improve her ability to hold poses, but it helped her heal and feel better!
There are many similar examples. And despite the fact that Clark and I did our trip one pedal at a time and I’ve talked about the simplicity of this philosophy, I lost sight of the technique. (I’ll blame it on Covid.) Of course you can employ this same idea in many aspects of life. Helllooooooooo! Time to follow my own advice.
Happily, there are those among us who reflect back the wisdom we’ve forgotten. And they always seem to appear when we need the insight most. So, there it is, a reminder to myself … whatever seems overwhelming, can simply be conquered one step at a time.
